Fall Fair Set-Up Schedule for the Volunteers – and Fair Schedule

We are getting ready for Fall Fair Week, leading up to Fall Fair Day on August 26th.
If you have time to help, please drop by the Hall anytime between Wednesday noon on August 23rd and Sunday noon, August 27th.  Well, almost anytime.
Wednesday - 3 pm - empty the barn and set up the tents, tables followed by a wonderful volunteer dinner
Thursday - 10-4 pm - Come out and set up the decor and displays, cover the tables and put up the signage.  Lunch available.
Friday - Community Displays can be set up,  get ready for the entries to come in and the judging to begin.  There is a light volunteer dinner/judge and convener dinner after 6 pm.
Entries come in Friday from 3 to 6 pm.  A little easier this year, no money collected.  Main floor entries go to the back, art entries that go upstairs can be taken up the ramp to the doors upstairs, and the children and young people exhibits can go direct to a table in front of the tents for these sections.  A different way to do it, don't panic, it should work fine.
Judging 6 pm on.  Maybe done by 11 am next day!!
Saturday - Farmers Market out front by road at 930 to 1
Grounds open at 10
Parade - gather at firehall by 10 for participants, then parade starts 1030 goes through grounds then finishes up by library.

Fall Fair 2016

We are gearing up for the 2016 Fall Fair! We need the help of volunteers, community groups, and businesses in order to make the Fair a success!

Our event will feature entry by donation, a Farmers Market in the morning, plenty of competitive sections in a range of agricultural and arts areas, livestock displays, activities for kids, and a BBQ dinner.

ENTER COMPETITIVE SECTIONS: Pre-register your entries for the various competitive sections by filling out the entry form available at the Library, Pender Island Realty Ltd. community drop box, or at the Farmers' Market each Saturday between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm at the Community Hall. Registration will be available the day before the Fair as well between 3 and 6 pm.

VOLUNTEER: Want to volunteer? We have tons of opportunities to volunteer! Just send an email to and we'll find a job for you. Teens and youths can volunteer as well. Bring a friend and gain some work experience! Reference letters will be given to youths for their work.

DONATE: We appreciate any donations in the way of monetary funds, services, or prizes. Please contact or find us at the Farmers' Market at the Community Hall on Saturdays between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm.

Questions? Any other questions can be directed to or find a Farmers' Institute staff or Board Member at the Farmers' Market on Saturdays at the Community Hall between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm.

School Garden Project

seedy4This is the sixteenth year that the PIFI will be providing seeds and plants to all the students of Pender Island Elementary school to encourage them to garden and to participate in our Fall Fair. Each student will be given one tomato plant and one seed potato. As well, they can also grow zucchini, pole beans, bush beans and nasturtiums. It is our hope that they will grow these plants out to maturity and enter them in the Fall Fair in Section L (Young People’s Agriculture) either in the Garden Division or the Education Division or at least give them to their mother for a Mother’s Day Present!
